Welcome From The Manager

Hi, my name is Lizzy, and I’m very proud to be the Manager of our Little Wellies Idle nursery. Since opening in 2020 as a brand-new setting, we’ve grown into a vibrant, busy nursery — full of laughter, smiles, and fun every day.

We’d love to welcome you for a visit so you can see for yourself what makes our nursery so special, and why we’re so highly recommended within the local community.

About Little Wellies Idle

Little Wellies Idle is set in a beautiful stone, detached building, close to the village centre. Children have access to a wealth of resources, a vast amount of outside space and a wonderful, interactive “sensory cabin”, which is used by all ages. The highly-qualified and experienced staff team teach the children through “child-led,” “in the moment” learning, through a wide range of play activities. We ensure that children are captivated and engrossed in their learning with beautiful, authentic and ‘real’ resources. After all, why use a plastic “play” tea set when a real ceramic one is much more enticing?

Our Idle nursery is divided into three beautiful, age-appropriate rooms, each thoughtfully designed to support your child’s development and curiosity at every stage.

Raindrops is for our youngest children and is located in our bright, modern, and spacious new room on the ground floor. The emphasis here is on nurturing children in a cosy, comfortable, and engaging environment that provides rich early play experiences. The room caters perfectly for all their needs, with a soft carpeted area, home corner, and messy play zones — including a built-in sandpit.

Rainbows, just along the hallway on the ground floor, is home to our 2–3-year-olds. Here, children have lots of space to explore and discover, with a wide range of wonderful resources, including a climb-and-slide nursery gym, an indoor sandpit, and inviting home areas. There are also plenty of opportunities for quiet time, where little ones can curl up with their favourite practitioner for a cosy story or rest.

After turning three, children move upstairs to our spacious, bright, and airy first-floor room, Sunbeams. You won’t find many manufactured toys here — instead, there’s a wealth of creative and open-ended learning opportunities, from a homemade Playdough Station to a junk-modelling sculpture area. Children are encouraged to engage in meaningful, imaginative play using authentic materials, helping them develop independence, creativity, and confidence as they begin their journey toward being “ready for school.”
